"Good engineering, Disappointing Results" 2009-12-26
By Frank Casanova (Sacramento, CA)
Had high expectations that this nice looking German engineered device would solve demand for instant hot water at a single sink. Not exactly "instant". It takes a while for the water to even get warm. The problem is the water needs to flow slowly in order to benefit from the electrical heater. Naturally that means a very low flow output. A small tank device would be better...but alas, is much more expensive to run in order to keep the water hot 24 hours a day. Also don't forget...This requires a new 30amp electrical circuit and water by-pass shut-off valves to be installed. Not for the handyman-challenged.

"Endless Hot Water" 2010-05-02
By Green Consumer (San Antonio, TX)
My electrician recommended the RA32. I have 3 teenagers and live in an all electric neighborhood. Needless to say, I never got a hot shower. Now everyone gets plenty of hot water, including me. We had company at the house and everyone was amazed that they had enough hot water. I am recommending Seisco to all my neighbors. Six months now, and I am saving over 24% on my electric bill to boot. Goodbye heavy, smelly tank. Hello hot water

"Buyer Beware" 2010-05-01
By Phillip Graham (Laurel, Ms United States)
Avoid this company like the plaque. You need to plan on spending $200 every 3 to 4 years for repairs. As another reviewer stated their warranty is terrible. Parts are expensive and their shipping is riiculous. I have had to same part fail me twice and had a customer service rep admit that they had a manufacture problem with some of those parts, but still insisted I pay $117 dollars for parts and $75 dollars shipping overnight. And the worst part is the part wasn't shipped overnight. Said there was some confusion, but still demanded I pay $75 dollars shipping. Again do not buy from this company they will not stand behind their product.

"Seisco Tanks" 2008-12-23
By L. M. Cunningham (Amarillo, TX)
If you are planning to purchase a Seisco Tankless Water Heater, you might just prefer just to flush your cash down the toilet. We have had one for just over a year and have had trouble 3 times. When you need parts, plan on paying for them and paying for shipping. There is not much of a warranty and customer service is very kind but ineffective. We love the idea of tankless but made a very poor decision going with this company. Please do not make the mistake we did unless you like a cold shower.

"Every House Should Have One" 2008-10-06
By ssric (Richmond, VA)
I had this installed in May 2007 to provide hot water for my showers, dishwasher, etc. I was worried about using an electric tankless water heater, because I assumed that gas tankless would have been better. However, I didn't want to pay to run a gas line to my house, so I installed the biggest electric I could find. It is great. It provides plenty of hot water. 10 people in a row can shower and you won't run out of hot water, because you aren't relying on a tank. I never noticed a jump in my electric bill during the summer. Last winter my electric bill went up around $10, my guess is that the tankless water heater was requiring more power to heat the colder incoming water, but it's hard to be sure. Even so, it's much cheaper than what I was doing, which was an oil-fired water heater tank. People are so obsessed with their 'carbon footprint' and saving energy...so start with the basics: stop heating a tank of water 24 hours per day.

"Does Not Heat Water" 2010-09-01
By Net Consumer (Memphis,TN)
This product never worked. I call Tech support and after a test with my multimeter THEY determined that I needed a new element, and told me that one was on the way. After a week, no element. I called to follow up and they told me that they now think that it does not need this element. I wasted a week waiting for a part that was never shipped.Customer service tried to convince me that they were doing me a favor by not shipping a part that would have not fixed my problem. However if I had not called I would have never known that it wasn't shipped.I will be sending this item back to Amazon.com and purchasing a Bosch 2gal water heater

"Watts" 2010-04-07
By Al Ikenberg (Savannah, Ga.)
We built a new house 4 years ago and wanted the best-after searching for several weeks the options, we found the Watts Hot Water Heaters were the best rated. We purchased 2 Watts Premier Four Chamber Tankless Electric Hot Water Heaters model 50028. We installed the 2 units in the attic directly over the area where the water was needed-one on each side of the house so they were close to the bathrooms and the kitchen . We knew that we needed considerably higher amounts of electricity so we had 600 Amps Electrical Panels installed. It has now been 4 years and we have never had any problems with the units-and they have saved us a fortune in electricity and water. I would advise that they need the higher amps (600) for a large house and to put the Watts units near where you need it most-the kitchen and washing machines and bathrooms.

"Probably would not buy this again" 2007-01-13
By Timothy Addington (Orange Beach, AL United States)
My conventional water heater died and I decided to go tankless since this is a second home. The price was quite a bit higher than a replacement tank heater, but since I use very little hot water it seemed like a good fit.The first thing that I ran into was the electric requirements. This thing has four 7000W heating elements and each one requires a separate 30A 240V circuit. Since I didn't have that much room in my service panel, I had to install a 125A sub-panel. This also required pulling four 10-2 cables through the attic and into the utility room. Given the price of copper, this is not an insignificant expense. If I had it to do all over again, I might have moved the water heater closer to the service panel. The actual pluming was pretty easy. It works just like a regular water heater with 3/4 inch inlet and outlet. The specifications say that a blowoff valve is not required, so I did not install one.I am a little upset by the design of this thing. The pipes come in from the top and the wiring is on the side. The problem with this arrangement is that any sweating from the pipes runs down into the unit and onto the electrical wiring. I had a small leak in a connection when I first turned the water on and the water dripped down onto the circuit board in the unit. Fortunately, I didn't have the power on yet, but it did take a bit of work to dry everything out. I would have much preferred that the water connection would have been on the bottom and the electricity on the top. When I powered the unit up, there were a number of clicks and beeps and flashing LEDs. The unit quickly settled down into a constant blinking of a single green LED. The very limited manual indicated that this was the normal operating mode. After a few small tests at the kitchen sink, I was satisfied that the unit was working, so I decided to take a shower.Everything worked fine and the water was plenty hot enough. As a matter of fact, I will probably turn the temperature down a bit from the factory setting. One issue that I have is that when any of the four elements turn on it causes my lights to flicker slightly. This is a common problem since this also happens with any large electrical load like the heat pump or hot tub. The issue is that the elements seem to be turning on and off constantly during the shower causing a lot of flickering. This is something that I guess I will have to live with.I only have a 200A service into my house and this is the minimum recommended for this unit. It will be interesting to see how well the power holds up when I have the heat pump, hot tub, and a shower all going at the same time. I probably ought to turn on all the burners on the stove at the same time just to really give it a shakedown. The only other issue that I have is the apparent lack of information on this unit. I don't believe that the manufacturer has any useful web site or customer support. The manuals that come with the unit are very limited in information. With the unit powered on and idle, there are periodic relay clicks that I assume are normal, but nothing is mentioned in the manual. I am guessing that this is some sort of diagnostics, but I am not really sure.Over all, I probably would not replace a conventional water heater with this unit again. Given the total cost and time involved, I cannot see that I will ever come close to recovering the investment. I am a technology junkie and like to try new things, so the experience is worth something I guess.

WORKS GREAT EVEN WITH 2PSI WATER PRESSURE UP TO 150 PSI.

HEAD SIZE ABOUT 3", WORKS WITH PLASTIC OR METAL PIPING, POSITION ABOUT 14" FROM WALL.

THIS IS A QUESTION FROM A SATISFIED CUSTOMER:

CAN THE SHOWER-HEAD WHICH COMES WITH/ON THIS WATER-HEATER UNIT, BE SWITCHED/REPLACED WITH ANOTHER (STANDARD / COMMONLY AVAILABLE) SHOWER-HEAD?

OR, IS THE HEAD THAT'S ALREADY ON THIS UNIT, A PERMINENT/UNIQUE PART OF IT (AND THUS UNREPLACABLE)?

ANSWER

The answer is that you can remove the "showerhead" (THE SHOWERHEAD IS THE BLACK PART IN THE PICTURE) and change it to another Standard 1/2" inlet shower head.

You can also install the electric part of showerhead concealed somewhere else * and run a Pex or PVC or Copper line from the male 1/2" outlet to the new standard outlet., this will make a slick installation.

* As long as this place is after the open / close fixture and above the shower outlet.

Automatic Startup: No Switch required

"Poor at best" 2010-09-15
By Jo Gilder
I bought it to use on my bathtub. The Chronomite SR-40/208 is not capable of keeping up with the flow needed to fill the bathtub. The water went hot to cold to hot to cold. Ultimately I ended up with a cold bath. The manufacturer states the minimum flow is 1.0 gallons per minute. The 1.0 gpm is actually the MAXIMUM flow for that water heater. If you're not using it for a shower or sink don't bother. To upgrade to something bigger is just as much as a new tank water heater--especially for the upgrade of the electrical panel. Steer clear of this product if not doing new construction. On a good note, it was very easy to install.Overall, I rate it as very poor.

Needed to replace a small tankless water heater at a commercial building of mine, as I am a property manager. Love the convenience and savings I get at amazon. The product satisfied my tenants needs and my budget. It works like a charm and fairly easy to install for my service man.

The heating element burned out after a year, and a new element is not available as a replacement part, so the unit is junk. Save yourself from the headache and stay away from this brand.

"Just what I needed & Delivered early" 2010-02-23
By Barbara Weiskotten (Delta, Ca. USA)
The order came much faster than I had expected, was in good condition, works as I wanted. A product which I could not get at a local Home depot or Lowes, also not available in local hardware stores. I almost canceled the order because the original estimate of delivery was 2-3 weeks out. The order came in only 4-5 days, which was a pleasant supprise.

"TANKLESS WATER HEATER" 2009-06-16
By Gale S. Hart
I LOVE THIS!! No more running out gallons of water waiting for the water to get warm. The cost in electricity is very minimal, too. If we can get another one we plan to do so and add it to one of our bathrooms.

"Great product" 2009-02-01
By Brent D. Healy (Griswold, CT)
This is for Jack Stecker. maybe you shouldn't be crushing all those pills buddy, I think it's negatively impacting your brain. This water heater is not intended to replace a tank water heater, it is not for your whole house. If it is tripping your breaker, it is because you did not wire it correctly, or are using the wrong size breaker. The wire sizes that Bosch says to use are NOT intended as a guideline, they are the size that the unit needs. You are probably very lucky you didn't burn down your house. Next time follow the instructions, ALL of the instructions, and take the pills AFTER you are done with the wiring. I have two Bosch tankless water heaters, and they are awesome, but they need to be installed correctly. And yes, they do draw more electricity when they are on than a conventional tank water heater, it's just that they are only on when you need hot water. that draw is why you need to follow the directives about wire size. If it says 8ga wire, you CANNOT use 10ga.Also, the size requirement for your house service needs to adhered to as well, if is says minimum 200 amp service, you cannot use it with a 150 amp service, you could burn your house down.My advice, buy the 220v unit and have an electrician install it for you.

"Right out of the box it didn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2007-04-14
By Jack (NMI) Stecker
It draws more current than the old tank water heater and trips the breaker. There is an option to turn down the power/heat. The water never gets above 90 degrees. Useless Usless Useless!!!!!!!!!!!

"Your horrible for making me hold so long. You don't honor your warranty!" 2010-09-21
By NO HOT WATER from BOSCH!
Hey CPO and BOSCH and POWERSTAR. Your horrible. My 1.5 year old AE125 quit almost completely and you want me to hold, hold, hold, hold, hold. I have over 1.2 hours holding and I am NOT doing it any more. These guys are a JOKE. Do NOT buy this HW heater. You can do MUCH better elsewhere. They DON't stand behing their warranty. They take a big company attitude that causes you to just give up. I bet that keeps their warranty claims down WAY low for all their reports!!!Product SUCKS.

"Lots of Hot Water, But......." 2009-10-12
By Glenn D. Abramowitz (Flanders NY)
This unit was bought to replace the less than 3 year old same unit. I loved it till the breaker and panel failed. I tried to have it repaired, but there is no one to do it, and parts were not available. However, replacing it was the least expensive way to go. The new one seems a better design, but the outlet pipe was leaking. My plumber tried to remove it, and it crushed, due to cheap, thin copper. He had to fashion a new one, which he did. Cost me more, but, the final results are lots of hot water. Love the unit, but hope this one lasts more than 2 1/2 years. Calls to Bosch/Power Star were fruitless, their call in staff is terrible.

"Dealing with Bosch is painful" 2009-03-06
By D. Vance
We bought this water heater for our guest house. After major rewiring and plumbing changes and drywall repair from the rewiring and plumbing, we were finally ready to install. The installation went well and at first it seemed the system was working. However, after a short period of time, the water was not staying hot. It fluctuated in temperature when taking a shower and trying to do dishes in the kitchen sink, it actually went cold. We thought something was wrong so we called CPO (where we bought it) to see about getting this unit replaced, and they referred us to Bosch. After troubleshooting with Bosch on the phone, changing settings, water flow, etc., over a period of a few hours, we were not getting the improvement we had hoped for. To get hot water, the water pressure had to be turned so low that you could not reasonably expect to take a bath...it took forever to fill the tub. We continued to try different settings for a couple of days, but we had guests coming and needed hot water (which we had tried to explain to Bosch) so we went to the big orange store and bought an identical unit for $649. That one worked much better and proved to us that something was wrong with the first unit. Trying to return the unit to CPO, they required an incident number from Bosch. Called Bosch to get an incident number (why didn't we get one in the first place?) and had to call back several times due to long waits on the phone. They will not give an incident number unless they determine the unit is defective. If the board needs to be replaced, they will replace that, but will not give us an incident number to return the unit. So now we have a paper weight that cost $400. CPO will take it back, but not without charging a restocking fee and shipping. Why would we want them to restock this and sell it to someone else? Our only recourse at this time is to get back on the phone with Bosch and try to have them determine whether or not this item is defective. Never mind that they would have us go without hot water the whole time. This has been frustrating and expensive. Also, even though we have one that works, it is not really robust enough for a whole house water heater. Better as a point of service heater, but then you better make sure you have a big enough electrical service in your house to manage everything else you need to use. We have 200 amps, but if we needed two of these units, we'd have to upgrade our service in order to accommodate the huge amount of power these things need up front. Don't buy one of these unless they get the technology more stable.

"tankless water heater" 2008-10-29
By Ernesto Perez (belchertown, MA USA)
Great product. Will give you enough hot water even for the new england cold weather area. You will need to fine tune the water flows and consider the anti-scalding faucets to reduce cold water intake, because you might get too much cold water flow. Once you balance the flow you will get a very nice hot shower!!something worth to install.

"Do not purchace this product." 2009-01-19
By Tom Bradrick
I have to eat this one because Crogan will not accept a return, which by the way, I could not find anywhere in writing. For that reason alone I would not purchase any product from this supplier. I had very realistic expectations for this little heater. All I wanted was warm water to wash my hands and face in a small sink. Even with the low flow aerator this product was unacceptable and I immediately removed it. Please note that the owner of Crogan has put in a review--which is not true.

"Unrealistic expectations" 2008-10-04
By Joe Crogan (Ohio)
This is a SUPER product. Do your homework to determine if it will create enough hot water for your needs. If not, there are other alternatives available. Do not purchase simply for price, you will probably be disappointed.

"Very "Mini" Water Heater" 2008-06-22
By Maxwell Hammer (Seattle)
I wanted a mini water heater in my remodeled bathroom. After having it professionally installed, the plumber told me that he thinks the until is working, but....there is no hot water coming out of the faucet. I called the company and told them the unit clicks on but no hot water. They told me i must use the .65 per minute water flow limiter that comes with the unit. I didn't see one when i opened the box, so i went around looking in three different places for a water limiter of .65. Most people laughed when I told them what i wanted, saying that amount would barely wash your hands at that low of a flow rate and mixing it with cold water might make it feel instantly cool. It seems that this unit is a waste of money. Perhaps a mini water tank would be a better purchase.

"Ordered 220 V" 2008-05-08
By Richard L. Baljet (Curacao N.A.)
I ordered a 220 V for the caribbean but amazone's plumber send me a 110 volt unit. So i'm not happy. The problem to send it back for the good one is bigger then the loss.
